El papel de la salud bucal en el bienestar integral en escolares de educación primaria

The role of oral health in the overall well-being of primary school students

Resumen
La salud bucal influye en la calidad de vida infantil, impactando aspectos físicos, emocionales y sociales. Este estudio analiza la percepción de la salud bucal en 160 escolares de quinto y sexto grado en Perú, utilizando el cuestionario Childhood Perceptions Questionnaire (CPQ 11-14). Los resultados evidencian que los problemas bucales afectan la funcionalidad, el bienestar emocional y la interacción social. Se concluye que fortalecer la prevención y el acceso a atención odontológica es clave para mejorar la calidad de vida.

Abstract
Oral health influences the quality of life in children, impacting physical, emotional, and social aspects.  This study analyzes the perception of oral health in 160 fifth and sixth-grade students in Peru, using the Childhood Perceptions Questionnaire (CPQ 11-14). The results show that oral problems affect functionality, emotional well-being, and social interaction.  It is concluded that strengthening prevention and access to dental care is key to improving quality of life.
